The Rocket Summer's first full-length album, Calendar Days, was a great way to start off their music career. It starts off with the track "Cross My Heart" which seems to be about a person changing their behavior to be a better person and in return, they're changing him too. Later in the album, the track "She's My Baby" is exactly how it seems, a love song. The track "That's So You" sounds a little acoustic/independently recorded to me but it still fits in with the rest of the tracks on the album.
As Bryce Avary's first full-length album, I have to give him props. If you just look at the lyrics and catchy piano riffs, you don't see much solidity in what Avary is trying to say. The track "What We Hate, We Make" can relate to anyone who listens to it because it talks about him making a mistake and having to say that he's sorry and in the end, everyone makes mistakes. This specific track is Avary apologizing to someone for not showing the person how much he actually cares about them.
Overall, I loved the sound of the album and the words behind the music being played. Calendar Days is a solid start for The Rocket Summer's budding career.
