Some things and some moments can only happen in front of a willing crowd, and Live & In the Can is a collection of many of the most powerful and spontaneous live worship sessions Delirious has ever recorded. Based around a number of their most foundational writings, this album gets to the heart of why Delirious even existed. Despite the fact that it was one of their earlier offerings, the spiritual and musical unity of the five D:boys shines through in those spontaneous times.
In certain places, Martin Smith's vocals slightly stray from optimum pitch, and it's often in the middle of a very amazing sequence. It's a flaw that reflects the vulnerability of the album. It's raw Delirious, and if you're a fan of the band, this is one of the most essential recordings. As the band has officially ended its career, this has become a part of Delirious history.
After years of exploring and leading contemporary worship, I'm yet to find anything quite like Live & In the Can. There's singing, praying, and playing; all in a way that draws you up the path to dwelling in God's presence. It's not an album, it's an experience. Give it a chance and it'll inspire you!
