I'm a little new to the independent scene. But from what I know about it,
the indie scene is swarming with talented and not-so-talented artists alike
who are trying to make it in the music business. Sometimes when you put your
nets out into the sea of artists you get a bad catch, sometimes a good one...
Cade is a sister-fronted rock group based in San Diego, California, headed
by Jody and Jonna Cade. After a couple listens to their debut indie self-titled
project, you'll wonder why they aren't public and why they're not getting more
publicity.
But like all good artists, you have to start somewhere. And Cade seems to
be getting somewhere. Making it into CCM Magazine last month and having an ad
again this month, the girls aren't too far away from going public. And
it wouldn't be a moment too soon.
Cade is a solid project that is, like the official bio describes,
"highly melodic, sometimes edgy." Jody and Joanna's vocals remind me of
a bit of Rachel Rachel meets Point of Grace-- without the foursome power pop
(a breath of fresh air in this case).
Album highlights include the pop-fueled rock tunes, "Past the Walls" &
"If It Weren't for You," the
opening pop/rock track "Drowning," and the sometimes edgier "Haven't I Seen You."
These girls know just when to turn things up and slow things down. Definitely keep an
eye on these gals.
