My guess is the album will be in te Collide/Comatose vein. That's not bad at all. I have been a fan of Skillet since way back in the day, around the time thier debut cd came out. This band gets better and better with each album. I know they won't do it but heres in idea for Skillet's new album. John like me has an affection for 80's glam metal. Skillet should make a glam metal album. Along the lines of Stryper,Guardian, etc. EIther way Skillet is still going to "rock your face off" with the new album.

Man, I can't wait for the new Skillet cd!
Not that I'm against trying to get mainstream listeners, but I hope the lyrics on this album will be more like their old albums.

Definitely. Lyrically, Comatose kind of disappointed me. Skillet used to be really good at writing some poetic lyrics... Comatose's lyrics were almost mainstream pop.
Musically, I'm hoping for a middle ground between Collide and Comatose.

I'm hoping for something between Collide and Comatose too! It would be really awsome.

I'm personally going for something like the more melodic, synth-heavy stuff from Comatose mixed with the hard rock and grittiness of Collide.

Their Comatose cd was too...emoish. Whatever you wanna call it. I like a few of the songs, but I prefer the hard rock of Collide. They didn't get any mainstream appeal so they can just stop with that.

^ I don't think it was emoish... I loved it. It was awesome. Collide was awesome too. I really don't care what it sounds like as long as it's Skillet. Skillets my favorite band :D

I wouldn't say emo-ish. I'd say they sold out and made half the record soft songs or pop-rock....

I don't think it's being a sell out as much as trying something new. Collide is a fantastic album but if every album they put out sounded like a Collide clone, it would get old really fast.

^Yes. I have no problem with the Comatose sound. The problem is that half the album isn't the comatose sound. It's pop-rock. Going from a hard-rock band to a nickelback clone with some originality is selling out.

Totally! Oh and....
A few days ago on their myspace John's twitter said this:
"hey panheads! just heard our first single for our upcoming record! too bad u guys weren't here with me:) keep rockin"
Yesss!!! That means they might be releasing a single soon! Woot!
And also this is a section from their blog on their myspace:
"Allright, back to the update. Our album is done... pretty much. haha. Theyre still out in CA doing the finishing editing and touching up and mixing. So we havent heard the finals yet but what we have heard we're excited about. I guess excited and nervous. Thats normally how it is though, feeling good about new things, new directions, but then wondering if fans will like it. We debated a long time whether to introduce country music into the style for the band and finally just decided to go for it. ;) jk."
 I'm getting excited!!

Not what I meant. Have you heard Nickelback's All The Right Reasons CD? It is half Hard Rock and the other half is pop-rock and power ballads. That is what I meant with that comment.
