JFH Song Lyrics

Artist List   /   Brandon Heath   /   What If We

10. When I'm Alone

What If We
by Brandon Heath

Listen:

Lyrics:

When I’m alone
The faces they come and they go
I wonder if they think I’ve changed
I wish I could stay
But be where you are
The countries and cities so far
This is my dream and my gift
But sometimes I get

Scared
That somehow I’ll cease to belong
Anywhere
So I need you when it all starts to show
When I’m alone

When I’m alone
I sleep late it’s crazy I know
The worlds only passing me by
I guess that is why
I’m telling you now
That I haven’t figured it out
The depth of the things that I’ve missed
They leave me like this

Scared
That somehow I’ll cease to belong
Anywhere
So I need you when it all starts to show
When I’m alone

Is it true that you can find me anytime
Cause I’m feeling like I’m there, it’s about that time

Cause I’m scared
That somehow I’ll cease to belong
Anywhere
So I need you when it all starts to show
When I’m alone

Brandon Heath, Nate Campany

Behind the Song:
“I felt like this was an important song to put on the record, because it talks about what it’s like to be alone. It’s an honest look at the thoughts and fears that I have sometimes when I’ve been on my own for too long. I’ve never really been afraid to be honest with listeners and I think it’s created a bond between us. They know they are getting the real deal when they listen to my music, so I hope this song continues that relationship. I don’t think this excludes anyone. Even married people feel alone sometimes. That’s when our fears of abandonment and isolation come in to play. I think at our core, we just want to know we belong. “When I’m Alone,” is an honest look at insecurity.” - Brandon Heath
