Lyrics:
Your name lifted up I'll fall on my face Always look forward never behind Try as I may I'm a new man inside No more excuses, no more alibis No more facades, I just won't compromise It's come to this and now forever more I need less of me so in you I can endure I can't help myself, your love it's over me like nothing else I'm feeling commissioned, now if anybody will listen I gotta get this outta my system Hands up hands up joyful in sound When praise is going up I ain't keeping it down Has anybody ever felt like today is the day It's brand new and you see the Son's awesome array The peace of mind you never knew The strength to get through I'm a praise your Holy Name Youʼre the One I can turn to This life it's full and it's out of control You took me by the hand and it's real and wonderful All of me is your my “before's” and “could be's” What everybody needs when weʼre livin' in peace Your grace it empties my impurities and sin When I need another lift youʼre filling' me up again Clap your hands stomp your feet I got a song in my soul come on sing it with me
Benjiman, Allen Stone
Behind the Song: "The Bible says if God's name is not praised then even the rocks will shout out to lift him
up (Luke 19:40). System builds upon that verse. God built us with a need to praise him,
and hopefully more often than not we need to get it out of our "system." Iʼm not saying
that it will go away, but instead Iʼm putting it into a human term to lay out how intense
the need to praise is. Like "Stones", I wrote "System" with a particular artist in mind to
collab on it with me. That artist would be Allen Stone. This guy can SING!! I spent a few
weeks on tour with him and got to know him and his heart. A friendship started and in
2007 we did the demo for "System" in Seattle together. As a side note, the Allenʼs
vocals from that demo are the ones used in the final version you are hearing now." - Benjiman
