Indie rock band Remedy Drive is funding a brand new studio album titled The North Star, inspired by the fight against human trafficking. You can head to Kickstarter right now to help them meet their $20,000 goal. The band was previously signed to Word Records several years ago but has been operating independently to make new music to impact the world around them.

About the project, the band announced:

We started recording this new album The North Star on the top of buildings in Southeast Asia, often times within blocks of the red-light district streets where they sell teenage girls against their will. The same streets that Matt Parker, the founder of the counter trafficking organization The Exodus Road, and I would go out and work at night.

Our goal was that the devastating reality of slavery and injustice would find its way onto this album.

We need your help to get these songs out there. Songs that have been inspired by the courage of ordinary people in history and today that are fighting against injustice. Songs that I hope and believe will inspire ordinary humans to live like Martin Luther King Jr. said with a “dangerous unselfishness”.

In tandem with launching this new album we’re launching a new line of t-shirts and apparel that are made by survivors of sex trafficking in facilities that help restore and rehabilitate these precious girls and women.  We have stuffed elephants, necklaces, bracelets, purses, bags, boho pants and other accessories.

We don’t have a record company or a management company but we have the Remedy Drive nation.  We know that you believe in our music and that’s why we’re confident that we can ask our community to help us fund the recording, mastering and the mixing of this album and to enable us to to push this music out into avenues where new people will hear our songs and join us in our fight for freedom.

Timmy Jones, The Duke, joined us in the studio on drums.  Philip Zach, my brother, of produced the album overseas and at The Grid Studio.  Corey Horn has been with the band for 7 years now and this is our 5th album together.  We can't wait for you all to hear it!
