Brandon Heath (Nashville, Tenn.) February 14, 2008 Acclaimed singer/songwriter Brandon Heath received prominent recognition with the announcement today of nominations for the 39th Annual GMA Dove Awards by the Gospel Music Association (GMA). Heath was recognized in the coveted New Artist of the Year category due to the success of his debut project, Dont Get Comfortable, which contained the Song of the Year nominee, Im Not Who I Was, a smash-hit that was also nominated in the Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song category.

The stories of reconciliation that Ive heard in response to the song, Im Not Who I Was have been reward enough for me. Im thankful and honored to be nominated with such a talented group of friends and artists, especially as a new guy, Heath commented.

Brandon Heath quickly became a fixture at Christian radio with the release of his debut project. His mega-hit Im Not Who I Was raced to No. 1 and ended 2007 as one of the years most played radio singles. Heath's third single Dont Get Comfortable, the title track of Heaths 2006 debut album, is currently No. 10 on R&Rs AC-Monitored chart reaching more than 1.5 million listeners. This project also delivered the 2007 Dove-nominated, Top 5 radio hit, Our God Reigns.

Heath has been a respected writer in the Nashville music community for years, collaborating with well-known artists like Bebo Norman, Matt Wertz and Dave Barnes, to name a few. The Nashville native first began writing at age 13 and credits the towns legendary hotspot for songwriters, the Bluebird Caf, as the place he first experienced music that moved him.

Brandon Heath currently resides in Houston, Texas, and is a worship leader at The Loft church located in The Woodlands just north of Houston. He is currently preparing for the late summer release of his highly anticipated sophomore album.

The GMA Dove Awards show will be presented on April 23, 2008 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville and broadcast live on Gospel Music Channel. A complete list of nominations is available online at For more information on Brandon Heath, please visit or
