Nashville, Tenn., November 12, 2008 –The first annual D6 Conference is set to champion a movement of parents connecting with their kids spiritually in order to transfer their faith and life values. Church leaders and parents who attend The D6 Conference 2009 will be challenged to take a different look at the way they minister to children, students and families in the church in light of the message of Deuteronomy 6:5-7.
The D6 Conference 2009 will be held Wednesday, September 23 through Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Embassy Suites Dallas-Frisco Convention Center located at 7600 John Q. Hammons Drive in Frisco (20 miles north of Dallas). Registration information, including early registration discounts, can be found at http://D6conference.com/.
Featured speakers for this groundbreaking event include:
“It’s time to take a different look at the way we minister to children, students and families in the church,” says Matt Markins, D6 Conference director and spokesperson and Randall House director of marketing and sales. “Research shows that the kids who grow up to be spiritual champions most often have parents in the home who make a considerable contribution to their spiritual influence. Unfortunately, far too many parents rely on the church to be responsible for the spiritual development of their kids. According to the D6 (Deuteronomy 6:5-7), this is the job of dad and mom.”
“The local church has a role in this, but we have put too much of the burden on the shoulders of the local church to raise spiritual champions,” says George Barna, author of Revolutionary Parenting and Transforming Children Into Spiritual Champions, and founder of The Barna Group, a research and resource firm whose clients have included the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Ford, Walt Disney and Focus on the Family. “Scripturally, that’s the role of the parents. It is the single most important job they will ever have in their life, and you better take it seriously because that determines what happens in the future of the world.”
“For over a quarter of a century, Focus on the Family has been dedicated to connecting parents with their children,” says Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family. “I anticipate that The D6 Conference will be a rallying point for today’s Christian leaders to effectively mobilize a generation of parents who transfer their faith and values to their children, in the home. I hope you will join me there.”
“The D6 Conference will be an unprecedented gathering of today’s most influential leaders in the world of family ministry,” adds Mark Matlock, WisdomWorks president/founder and Youth Specialties sr. director of events. “All will be tackling one conversation: how do we equip parents to transfer their faith and values to their kids. This is one of the most important conversations in church leadership today. I hope to see you and your team there.”
“The future of the Church rests upon how well we do with raising our children and bringing them up to become spiritual champions,” concludes Ron Hunter, Randall House CEO. “One of the single greatest challenges we face today in the Church is to know how to equip parents to get involved in the lives of their kids. The D6 Conference will equip you, your leadership team and parents in leadership to know how to mobilize and outfit the parents in your church to become D6 families.”
