Coming out of Michigan with his first release is Nate Feuerstein who goes by the initials NF as his stage name. This short sampling is more than enough to showcase the awesomeness that will come with future full-length albums. This little EP is jam-packed with thumping beats, raw emotional content, and flow that is superb.
The EP's first track, "All I Have," plays like a personal journal entry on trying to make it musically and the slew of challenges that accompany that journey. With lyrics like "this hip hops in my veins, if you cut me I bleed this" speaks volumes of NF's journey to make it to where he is today. "Wake Up" and "This Thing Called Love" are both solid tunes that follow the same deep, raw hip hop heard in he first track. Closing out the listen is "Just Being Me" which is a perfect end note and a call to be who God made us to be. Words such as "the world wants to tell us who we are and who we ain't, but the person that I am is something the world can never change" demands of us to not conform to the ways of this world.
Now, not all is perfect here. "Hands Up" adds some rock edges while "Only One" infuses a little dance club production into it, and while they're both fine tracks, they seem like a let down from the rest of the EP. Does NF happen to be a white rapper from Michigan who sounds awfully similar to Eminem? Absolutely. But he is legit. He can spit, the beats are stellar, and he is as emotionally charged for God and willing to be as honest as they come. I cannot wait for more from the hip hopper.
