Jesus Culture
Unstoppable Love

Artist Info: Discography
Genre(s): Live / Worship
Album length: 13 tracks: 87 minutes, 46 seconds
Street Date: June 3, 2014

In late 1999, the Bethel Church (Redding, California) youth group led the first Jesus Culture conference and the rest is history. These days, it is hard to find a charismatic church that isn't playing some music from this group. Jesus Culture has always been known for their exuberant and intimate worship and spot-on vocal and musical chops. Unstoppable Love continues that trend and delivers one of the most immersive live worship experiences you could ask for.

Long time Jesus Culture worship leaders Kim Walker-Smith and Chris Quilala share worship leading duties on this new album and bring their strong vocals to the table once again. The vocal precision and range is truly amazing, especially in a live environment. One thing that struck me was how long this album is; 13 tracks seem more like 20 tracks due to the length of each track and the spontaneous worship moments. You certainly won't be shortchanged in the amount of music you get here with many of the tracks reaching over seven minutes and even nine minutes long. The downside to this, however, is there's much repetition on several tracks which really is not best suited for the recorded music format.

The opener, "Sing Out," features a catchy musical hook that gets the listener into this worship experience right away, although the strongest tracks are "Surrender All," which cleverly incorporates the classic hymn, and the title track "Unstoppable Love," which reminds us of the incredible love of God. The album closes with a strong cover of Matt Redman's "10,000 reasons," led by Kim Walker-Smith.

Jesus Culture's tenth album is one of their best. Some will get tired of the long tracks and repetitive nature of most of the album, while those wanting an album they can use to enter into God's presence will find this an awesome tool. But those who aren't so much into this type of "prophetic" worship may want to seek out the worship of the Passion conference artists like Matt Redman, David Crowder, or Chris Tomlin instead.
