    Posted: Feb-05-2007 at 6:32pm
This can be a general thread to ask if a group or artist is Christian.

I have just been listening to The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and many of their lyrics seem to be hinting at spiritual themes. Anyone know if there are Christian members in this band?

(general moderator edit inserted here - just a note... please feel free to check our Artist Database first as a starting point.  We are by no means the "final authority" on the subject, nor do we profile every Christian artist, but it is a good place to start. Click below:

Also, this is not the thread to debate the meaning of "Christian bands". Please do not engage in arguments or debates about this. You may only ask and answer about the faith of artists in this thread. Also, in asking/discussing artists here, please do not discuss any of our banned topics. That list can be found in our Forum Guidelines sticky thread at the top of the main board. Thank you.

I don't know much about them, but I *think* they're "Christians in a band". Somebody in another forum mentioned them in that light.

Hi everyone,

We cannot get into the specifics and criteria about what we think a "Christian" band is or isn't; there are other threads about that already.  This thread will deal specifically with asking and answering, OK?  Thanks for that. Smile

RJA has not made a profession of faith as an entire group; several minutes of Internet searching were not conclusive that this is a Christian band, or even a band with all Christians members. So for that reason, sorry but no further discussion is allowed on them.

Also, please note that this thread is not for discussion of the secular artists that undoubtedly will be brought up.  Once it is determined that a band or artist is not a Christian band or artist, we may not discuss them.  All further comments about them will be deleted.  Please understand and respect our Forum Guidelines, and feel free to post on other Internet discussion boards where you can freely talk about the secular artists of your choice.

Thanks, everyone.

Lord, let others see You before they see me.

Thanks, Glory - as mentioned in another thread, professions of faith by the band members is what counts as real evidence.

What about the Band, TYLER READ, they are one tour with Pillar and Showbread, but I don't think they are christian, and their new CD is called only Rock and Roll can save you, catchy song, but not promoting Salvation through Jesus Christ, and if you check their myspace page, it doesn't look like they are a christian band, does anyone know for sure?

After reading several interviews with some of the band members I would say no.  None of them ever mention Christ or being a Christian.

Would Unearth be a christian band? One dude in a message board said they were. And some of their lyrics sound like they touch on spiritual themes (My brother was wondering).

Unearth is not a Christian band. There is a quote on the internet from Trevor Phipps who is in the band, but it cannot be posted here.

One more band. All That Remains? I know Phil Labonte is a christian and a few songs refer to holding on to his beliefs. Would they be a christian band?

Looks like a no on All that remains. Where did you read that Phil Labonte is a Christian? I read about a half a dozen interviews and saw nothing that would point to that?

moderator edit - post deleted with explanation - to all members -

Sorry, but this thread is to ask and answer about specific bands being Christian (and yes, for the sake of the discussion and this website, bands can be "Christian").  We're sorry but this is not the place to post a list of mainstream/secular bands with some Christian members.  Additionally, we do not consider Wikipedia to be a reliable resource, seeing as anyone and everyone can edit an entry.  We hope you understand.

The Internet is a wide and wonderful resource, and there are literally thousands upon thousands of other message boards that are considered open, where one can discuss other issues.  Please respect and understand the purpose behind our ministry, which is to first and foremost glorify Jesus, and to promote and discuss Christian artists.

Thanks.

going back to tyler read, I have now had the opportunity to see them live on the DOTR tour part 2, and I am almost certain they are not a christian band. They were not exuding the qualities of good chrisitan people. for instance, they were openly hitting on any half decent looking girl at the show, and inviting them to come hang out in the van after. Plus, I have been listeing to the lyrics from the songs on their myspace, since they are not written down online yet. and they do not seem to glorify God. Sorry to disappoint, but I am almost certain that they are not christians, let alone a christian band. I just pray the time they spend with pillar and Showbread draws them closer to Christ.

He does make some good music, but I don't think he's a professing Christian, no. He's spirtual, and I would say searching, but from a few interviews I've read with him he seems to be more into spirtuality in general than any religon such as Christianity.

Killswitch Engage guitarist Joel Stroetzel - "I myself, Adam and Howard were brought up Christian but [were] never really heavily religious or anything like that. I mean, [we] definitely don't try to be blatantly like a Christian band or spread that kind of message. But I think it's pretty obvious if you read into the lyrics that there's some of that stuff going on [and] coming from that kind of background."

(moderator edit - thanks, everyone.  Sorry, but no further discussion of Killswitch Engage is allowed.)

I dont think Tyler Read is a Christian band at all. They don't sound like one, I've listened to there lyrics and some of the stuff would probably offend my mother so I dont think they're christian. x3
Also, they have videos on youtube of fake movie trailers that they made. They just about cuss in one of them, and the other one is a little..I dunno.
But I thought they where funny so I didn't care.
But to answer if they're christian or not I dont believe so.

But I'm seeing them for the second time on thursday with Showbread and Pillar because I reaaaallly like Showbread. x3

LOL! NO

That question has been battled about back and forth for years now.

They started out in the Christian music scene but Amy Lee says that they are not a Christian band and never was.

The Fray kinda confuses me on this one. They are Christians and they are very open about their faith...but they are also very open to say that they are NOT a Christian band. All the christian radio stations play their music but they say that God did not want them to do Christian music.

i think they meant that to mean that God was calling them to reach people by getting into mainstream and sharing Christ that way. They're only doing what Jesus told us to do. and that is going into the darkness and being a light. think about how can a light be effective if it's only shown in broad day light? it can't. but now a light in darkness: thar's what's gonna make the difference.

No. I can't find anything on the net that would show anything remotely Christian about their music or them.

Is Drop Dead, Gorgeous christian? The singer is starting a pianoish side project and states Michael W. Smith as an influence. I think a few members, including the singer, may be christians.

What about Hawthorne Heights? When I had Sirius they played Pens and Needles by Hawthorne Heights a lot. I don't care if they are or not because I don't like them, I just wanted to know because my friend likes them and he wants to know.

Hawthorne Heights isnt christian. I was looking once too. Their early lyrics arent too bright and they dont thank God anywhere on the page either.

I know at least one member, maybe two are Christians. There are some Christian influences in their lyrics but they are not considered a Christian band, nor do they wish to be.

We discussed it here:
