02. Inhaling A Bullet

Par Avion EP
by High Flight Society

Lyrics:

How did it come down to this?
I can’t be sure of
What it was I missed
The flags weren’t flying

Wait it out or fight?
This could never end
Maybe either way I die
There’s nothing left here to defend

Chorus:
I could not breathe without inhaling a bullet
God knows I’ve tried
You cut me down right to my face and I took it
But now it’s time
Time to put this to an end
So that I can breathe again

I feel the tension build
In my trigger finger
Before you shoot to kill
Should I open fire?

You left me with no choice
It’s not what I want
Tried to kill me with your voice
I’ll do what I have to

Chorus:
I could not breathe without inhaling a bullet
God knows I’ve tried
You cut me down right to my face and I took it
But now it’s time
Time to put this to an end
So that I can breathe again

Written By: Jason Wilkes and Michael Packer © 2009 High Flight Society Music (BMI)

Behind the Song:
“I was visiting an art gallery checking out a collection of Civil War themed paintings. One of the works showed the opposing sides in a heated battle with bullets flying everywhere and the wounded taking cover," The description under the painting had what was supposedly a quote from a general at that battle, which read, "it seemed hard to breathe without inhaling a bullet." This reminded me of the book of James when he talks of how much destruction the tongue can bring. This song is describing a situation where 2 people are in a relationship and one is constantly hurling insults and hurtful words and the other.” – Michael Packer (High Flight Society)
