July 8, 2010 – EMI Christian Music Group, Provident Music Group, and Word Entertainment are pleased to announce the Platinum RIAA certification of WOW Hits 2009 and the Gold RIAA certification of WOW Hits 2010, which is well on its way to Platinum certification. WOW Hits continues to outperform the market in a time of decline, further proving the strength and staying power of the WOW brand. The strong artist and song list, premium retail positioning and promotions, online presence, and great value have helped contribute to the success of WOW Hits 2009 & 2010.
This summer WOW will launch a new product extension under the name WOW Best of. Releasing on July 13th with 4 single disc releases, WOW will feature the best of 2004, 2005, 2006, & 2007 from the original 2 disc releases. Each 12 song CD features recurrents on radio and top selling digital singles. WOW Best of 2004, WOW Best of 2005, WOW Best of 2006, and WOW Best of 2007 bring these top selling songs and artists back into physical retail.
While WOW is known for the best in Christian music, WOW also supports new and developing artists in the genre. On July 13th, WOW will release WOW New & Next, a 12 song sampler featuring up and coming artists like Josh Wilson, Chris August, and Kerrie Roberts. As a Christian retail exclusive WOW New & Next will retail for $2.99 or FREE with the purchase of any WOW CD.
With the best of Christian music represented across physical retail, WOW is taking it a step further and will continue digital expansion. This month many of the previous WOW titles will be released to all DSPs for the first time. Titles include: the original 30 song WOW Hits 2004-2009, WOW Gospel 1998-2008, WOW Christmas Red & Green, WOW Hymns, and WOW #1s. iTunes will give special attention to the WOW brand the week of July 20th, by launching a WOW room featuring all the WOW titles now available digitally.
