(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Oct. 31, 2011--Industry veteran Dale Bray, former president and co-founder of Inpop Records, announces the formation of Platinum Pop Music. The label will release its debut project from award-winning Canadian pop/soul band Newworldson in April, preceded by radio single “Learning to Be the Light,” which received 38 adds this week.
The Nashville-based label is sister company to Platinum Pop Entertainment, which currently manages GRAMMY Award nominated group Superchick as well as new artists Abandon and Mike Mains and the Branches.
Bray, who will act as CEO of Platinum Pop Music, explains “I believe there are still great opportunities to support the talent and commitment of Christian musicians around the world. Although Platinum Pop Music won’t be a traditional label in many ways, we also don’t feel it necessary to reinvent the wheel. We will stay focused on radio artists with unique talent and pure goals, while meeting the consumer via whatever platform the market dictates.”
Platinum Pop Music’s first release will come from critically acclaimed group Newworldson. Bray signed and launched the band during his tenure at Inpop. He comments “I have had many great experiences and successes with Newworldson, and it is always an honor to work with one of CCM’s most gifted and explosive artists. The band’s talent is recognized all over the globe...embraced by listeners, Christian radio, and concert promoters worldwide.”
Newworldson is equally enthusiastic about the new partnership, “Dale has always given us the artistic freedom to be the eclectic group that we truly are,” says Newworldson frontman Joel Parisien. “It’s doubtful our fans and supporters know how essential he is to our team. We couldn’t be more excited about partnering with his new venture.”
The lead single, “Learning to Be the Light,” from Newworldson’s forthcoming project debuted this week with an impressive 38 adds at Christian AC radio. Such a strong initial showing makes “Learning to Be the Light” one of this year's most added singles out-of-the-box. The song follows Newworldson’s 2010 breakthrough hit, “There Is A Way,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart.
