01. From Your Hands

My Coming Day
by Julian Drive

Lyrics:

Praying in the garden, You saw the crowd coming Betrayed by one that called You King You could have called a band of angels to come and save the day But instead You chose to stay, You didn’t run away In the very front of Your mind While the blood was flowing You saw my face as You cried Certain in knowing Tears, blood and pain in the sand True love was pouring, true love was pouring from Your hands Bruised and beaten, appeared You were defeated But things aren’t always what they seem They thought when they placed Your body into an empty grave It would end all debate But the stone was rolled away The same hand that washes clean, and sets the captive free Same hand that calmed a sea, and the one who rescued me

Michael Shane Bowers, Jesse Clayton Triplett / © 2008 Four Wide Publishing / Clayton Triplett Publishing / First Company Publishing (ASCAP) / Admin. by First Company Publishing

Behind the Song:
"We use the word love so loosely in our society. We love our favorite team. We love our favorite food. We love our favorite TV show. As we sat frustrated on the side of the road, broken down in our old bus, we ended up writing a song about the purest, sweetest, most sincere love that has ever been. As Jesse continued strumming a progression in open D, for some reason my heart went to the Garden of Gethsemane where the love story began. Jesus pleaded with God there. He wasn’t looking forward to the imminent pain and suffering He was about to endure, but He did it because He loved us so much and knew it was necessary. Jesse and I bounced ideas off of one another until we had written a love song, with the crucifixion as the backdrop. The goal was to put the other things we supposedly love in perspective." - Shane Bowers (Julian Drive)
