02. I'm Alive

Lift
by Audio Adrenaline

Sometimes I wake up feeling
Like I did back in L.A.
But since I’m from Kentucky
That feeling must have been a mistake
But the sun is bright
And the skies are always blue
It must be something bigger
That makes me feel like I do

So if you come to the show
Then I want you to know

Have you ever longed
To walk on top of a cloud
If this feeling was a chemical
I don’t think it would be allowed

So if you come to the show
Or hear it on the radio
We’ll rock you we’ll rock you
I want you to know

I’m alive
I feel it in my veins
The passion that it brings
I’m alive
I will never die
I will never die

Words and music by Mark Stuart, Will McGinniss, Bob Herdman, Tyler Burkum and Ben Cissell © 2001 Up In The Mix/Flicker USA Publishing (BMI) admin by EMI CMP.

Behind the Song:
'This started as a guitar hook that we knew would be a real rock song on the record, but we couldn’t come up with a theme for a long time. I was reading a book by Mike Yaconelli that talks about not losing our passion. There was a chapter about how people think that when you become a Christian, life just shuts down and you become a boring, regulated, rule-following person. But this book talks about how Christianity is really when life begins – it’s kind of like a roller coaster ride. Your feelings become a lot more extreme, more passionate and emotional. It reminds us that when we become a follower of Jesus, we’re signing up for the ride of our lives. This song is about how we need to remember that Christ gives us life more abundantly.' - Mark Stuart (Audio Adrenaline)
