Over time, the view on what musical style should encompass worship music has changed drastically. Many artists have creatively expanded on the sound of worship music, giving much variety in this area of the Christian music industry. Artists have approached it through folk, bluegrass, rock, rap, and metal, among many more. One artist that has taken their own unique approach to worship is Warr Acres.
Future represents a contemporary take on traditional worship. It begins with "Finding Freedom," which is full of techno rhythms, possibly leading one to believe that the entire album will have a similar musical style. However, halfway through the album, the tone of the music slowly changes, ending with a soft, peaceful track titled "Future." Some might find it odd that the pace of the music changes greatly throughout the album, but the given variety can be viewed as a way to broaden the potential for new listeners.
One trait that can be seen helping to bring this album together as a whole is the lyrical content. This collection of songs portrays a sense of celebration and thankfulness of the love and grace of God. Listeners will find encouraging messages throughout the album, including the song "Arrows," in which Warr Acres has creatively used the famous line of the classic hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." A sense of urgency to tell others about the good news of Christ can be found in the song "Unmistakable."
Overall, whether you are worshipping with a large group of fellow believers, or simply spending some private one-on-one time with your Savior, Warr Acres' Future is an album to consider.
