Through these precious verses penned by David, God reveals that He cares so deeply for us that He sees every tear and preserves each one. Imagine the God of the universe tenderly preserving all our tears! The next time you feel alone and forgotten, remember these verses and take heart. Rest assured that ours is not a distant God, but one who is near to us, especially when we need Him most. Psalm 34:18 TLB says: "The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking." The Bible is full of Scriptures revealing God's love and compassion for us. In Isaiah 49:15-16 NLT, the Lord says: "Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for a child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on My hand." Here again, God is assuring us that He is not a distant, indifferent God, but a caring, intimate one. In Psalm 27:10 NLT, David writes: "Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close." If the whole world should forsake us, God will never leave us. He is always only a prayer away, and He will grant us His discernible presence when we ask Him to.
Throughout the pages of the Bible, God reveals both His might and His tenderness. Isaiah writes: "Who else has held the oceans in His hand? Who has measured off the heavens with His fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed out the mountains and the hills?" (Isaiah 40:12 NLT) Yet in the same passage, we find these verses: "He will feed His flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in His arms, holding them close to His heart." (Isaiah 40:11 NLT) And in Isaiah 66:13 NIV, the Lord says: "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you." God's might is greater than anything we could imagine, and so is His tenderness. Rest assured that no problem is too big for Him to handle, and no pain is beyond His healing touch. If you are feeling alone, sad, or wounded today, it's my prayer that you will reach out in faith to our loving Lord, and experience for yourself His comforting presence. The Savior's promise to you today is: "I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm--I will come to you"! (John 14:18 TLB)
Prayer: Lord, in times of despair and loneliness, I ask that You reveal to me Your tenderness and concern. Let me feel Your presence and reassure me that You are always near. Give me an understanding of Your indescribable love and compassion. Thank You that Your presence brings me comfort, healing, and joy!
