#7. TobyMac
untitled
Release Date: Sometime '09
 |
If you can't have new music from dc Talk (did you really expect me not to say that?), then what's the next best
thing? A new TobyMac record, naturally. Toby seems to be going the way of his previous venture, slowly moving
away from the hip hop sound, experimenting with new styles with each release. While a TobyMac record means he's
calling the shots, I can expect his fourth solo album to not stray too far from his roots. In either case,
Toby manages to keep things interesting and fun, and I doubt a new album will be anything but that...

TobyMac is one of the biggest names in the CCM industry today, and there’s no mistaking why. Whether experimenting with alternative rock, funk, or hip-hop, he’s always consistent in making it his own, and perfecting it to a tee. Hopefully his fourth studio album lives up to its extremely high expectations…

What can be said of tobyMac that hasn’t already been said? With every release he nails it and never misses a beat. Our former dc Talker, however, seems to have drifted away from his signature hip hop/rap sound and is going for a somewhat more accessible pop style, as seen in Portable Sounds. Whether or not this change will continue on for his fourth release remains to be seen...
