#15. Demon Hunter
The World Is A Thorn
Release Date: March 9, 2010
|
You can't think of Christian metal/hardcore without thinking of Demon Hunter. Their last release,
Storm the Gates of Hell, found the band moving their sound in a more progressive direction than before.
It will be interesting to see what they've cooked up for The World Is a Thorn.

I can’t recall the last time that I put DH into my player and not totally enjoyed the sound. Great growls,
awesome double bass, and meaningful lyrics - Those guys just consistently put out good tunes and
I’m expecting the same this year.

With the departure of Ethan Luck and Don Clark, many of us are wondering what Demon Hunter will do next.
Hopefully, it will be another headbanging metal masterpiece.

Okay, so I’m not all that big a metal fan, but who cares? I love Demon Hunter. Something about the
driving music, the right balance of intense and melodic vocals, and the darkly poetic lyrics can really
bring out my secret inner metalhead. Their fifth album is the first since the departure of two
longtime members, but with such a track record of musical excellence, The World is a Thorn
should still be another headbanging good time.

I've liked Demon Hunter since I first heard them on This Is Solid State Vol. 3. Ever since,
they've been fairly impressive. This time, the guys promise once again to have a heavier yet
more melodic set of songs. Storm the Gates of Hell was pretty diverse in that aspect, so
if The World Is A Thorn does keep their promise, it should be a very interesting listening experience.
