#9. Acceptance
Colliding By Design
Release Date: February 24

So much for being our #1 one-album-wonder. But the "never say never" axiom holds true. I missed the Acceptance party the first time around, and having spun Phantoms several years after their initial disbanding, I welcome this return of a modern rock favorite. Colliding By Design ought to be a long-overdue sophomore effort that keeps 2017 on its toes.

Acceptance released Phantoms -- a really great record -- all the way back in 2005. Songs like "Take Cover" were absolutely addicting and still loved by many today. After 12 years, the band has come back with their follow-up, Colliding By Design. While the first single did nothing to remind me of the Acceptance I loved from 2005, I'm still interested and excited to see what the guys have to offer us after all of this time. There are high hopes, but only time will tell how the newest release stacks up to their gold standard.

Acceptance's new release, Colliding by Design, is likely to be one of the best reunion albums of 2017. With their first full-length, Phantoms, well in the rearview, discussion regarding where a new effort will stand next to such an excellent album is understandable. Fortunately, lead singles "Haunted" and "Diagram of a Simple Man" promise consistency, achievement, and an exciting, fresh start.
