Tommy Positivity
Above Not Beneath - Single

Tommy Positivity is an up-and-coming hip hop artist seeking to give an edgier alternative to mainstream artists who use their platform to push political views. Tommy Positivity, however, looks at the politics and then points to Jesus. One of his latest singles, "Above Not Beneath", is a sort of diss track aimed at social media. For Tommy, he stays above the din and keeps his focus heavenward. While the message is good and contains some good turn-of-phrase lines (like "So distant, you're wholly inconsistent/Thank God He is holy and consistent"), the delivery is less than polished. His staccato delivery of the verses is more jarring than pleasant, though his smoother flow for the chorus is much better. The backing track also comes across as slightly hollow, like it needed a little more going on to make it feel full. Tommy Positivity has a good message he's delivering and with a little more practice and polish, the whole package will be really worth paying attention to.
