The Goldilocks Enigma is an indie husband and wife duo making some strangely interesting music.
Bread & Circuses features musical styles that range from Days of the New (even shades of Alice in Chains) to some of the more psychedelic stylings of the 70s. It hard to nail down an exact comparison, but Danielson Famile definitely came to mind while listening. Danielson was much more polished sounding overall, but they still had a similar family novelty band type sound. The Goldilocks Enigma has loads of potential, but, sadly, the quality of the recordings makes it hard to hear at times. The best sounding songs available in this bunch of 16 are "Ocean" and "The Well." "Ocean" is a worshipful song about God's power and love, while "The Well" is taken directly out of John chapter 4 and is the story of the woman at the well. Beyond the overall muddy sound of the recordings, the biggest complaint is the timing of the instruments. Many times throughout the album the guitar and drums are obviously off time from one another. The Goldilocks Enigma will definitely have an appeal to those looking for something a little different and out there. Hopefully some practice at the recording and mixing process will help with the album's biggest issues. Something tells me that The Goldilocks Enigma will be returning soon with new recordings of interesting and musically diverse material soon.
