People of Hope Church is a rapidly growing church located in Murfreesboro, TN. The church's proximity to Nashville has blessed them with a host of talented musicians and songwriters who have a desire to write music that praises and lifts of the name of Jesus. The church has been writing music over the last year and sharing it within their own congregation, but now the worship team has just released their debut single, "Only You." The song is very much in line with the modern worship movement and is a song most churches could easily insert into their worship set. "Only You" is fairly simple from a musical perspective and has a much stronger focus on the vocal and lyrical side of things. The song is co-led with both male and female vocals that add a nice balance. Both voices are fantastic sounding when leading solo, or when singing back up and harmonies. Lyrically, it's an uplifting song that focuses on our relationship with Jesus. The lyrics proclaim that Jesus is always there for us in every situation and accomplishes things in our lives that we could not alone. In the chorus they sing, "Only You can take a broken heart and make it new; and win the battles I would surely lose without You. Only You can split the seas and make the mountains move; and still You choose to love me like You do." One of my favorite lyrical moments comes in the bridge, "I will trust Your voice over all the noise; put my hope in You." It's such a relatable lyric as each of us have some sort of noise trying to drown out what Jesus has for us and lead us in a different direction. Proclaiming to trust Him despite everything else surrounding us is a bold statement.

Musically, lyrically, and production-wise you can tell professionals are involved here. The quality is just as high as any of the mega churches that are releasing music outside of their local churches these days. "Only You" is a really nice song and serves as a great entry for People of Hope and their church family. The church and worship team feel that the song represents their larger mission to multiply and share the unique worship experience they've created at their gatherings. On top of the original song, the single released also contains an enjoyable cover of Sarah and John Mark McMillan's "King of My Heart." Fans of modern worship music should give People of Hope and "Only You" a listen.
