Plant A Tree - EP

Coming off of their 2023 full-length album, Militent Revival, and their more recent release, Tremors, rock & roll band Imagers. is already moving forward with their brand new EP, Plant A Tree. Naturally, the EP doesn't sounds dissimilar to Tremors, although the former does lack the bigger rockers that appear on the latter (though "Guess What !?!" is a pretty energetic opener). Plant A Tree is a bit more reserved, but still contains the Jesus Movement-inspired hippie rock sound that fans of the band know them for. With that does come some rough production, though, with occasional feedback, moments where the vocals are a little too sharp, and an overall slightly muddy sound, particularly in the vocal production. That being said, it's not unlistenable, and the band members all competently display their talents throughout the 16-minute runtime. The songs are also rich in Christlike themes and Scripture, most notably "PS67 (Big Brother)," which paraphrases Psalm 67 in its chorus ("May the Lord God be gracious to you / cause His face to shine / may the Lord God he gracious to you / let His praise arise / make His great ways known in the earth"). The EP also takes more stern and convicting tones, dealing with the seriousness of man's continual rebellion in "Guess What !?!" as well as the importance of leaving a good legacy in the title track. Imagers. is not an incredibly accessible band, but they carry an important message and a heart for God that will appeal to those with a taste for classic rock & roll.
