Steve Hodges is an American singer/songwriter and guitarist. His single, "So I Can Love Her," is inspired by his late wife during a time when Steven himself almost passed away after a failed medical procedure. While in a hospital bed and uncertain of what was to come with his own life, his wife Sheri was right there beside him every step of the way. It's a country ballad recorded with some excellent musicians. The instrumentalists and production are top-notch and what you'd expect coming out of a Nashville studio. The steel guitar particularly stands out in this mix. The lyrics talk about Steve's struggles and his prayer to be able to remain with his wife. Hodges' sings, "And I had to make it home; I couldn't leave you there alone. And I prayed to the Lord, please give me more time, so I can love her." The lyrics are very inspiring and encourage us all to make the most of our time on this earth. Unfortunately, Sheri recently passed, but this has prompted to Steve to record the songs that were written with, and inspired by, her. "So I Can Love Her," and other songs written by Steve Hodges, certainly have the ability to reach out and touch the heartbroken and folks going through similar circumstances. Fans of country music will want to give this new single a listen and remain watchful for what Hodges releases next.
