Lyrics:
Verse 1 There’s a whole world out there that needs my help And I would fly to their rescue if I only knew how I am Super-Duper Jeremy without a cape In the absence of my powers I cannot help, now Chorus 1 …And that’s the point I’ve been trying to make (We’re not here for long) It’s the standards set for standard’s sake (The whole world is doomed) Can we perform miracles on our own…? (There’s no freedom here…) As the better we must set the tone. (And that’s where the problem lies.) Verse 2 It’s “America Syndrome” starting over again Selling guns and ammunition that have gone out-of-date Dumping tasty tea into oceans to prove our point There’s no hope for us if we keep going at this rate… Chorus
Statement (written and recorded by Justin Lloyd, used with permission) In various forms of entertainment and broadcast media, everyone is subjected to the unbelievable, the outrageous, and the unexpected, which increases our tolerance for bad things. Then, as new advances, procedures, research, laws, crimes, disasters, accidents, music, movies and all the other things are brought to our attention, they don’t seem all that crazy anymore; like they are just part of life… Our hunger for more graphic news keeps getting fed. If we had not been introduced to those things in a sly way; like entertainment; to begin with, and had not become so calloused, we could and would see the way people and events are getting out of control. All of this points to the eventual, inevitable, end of the world. Chorus 2 …And that’s the point I’ve been trying to make (We’re not here for long) It’s the standards set for standard’s sake (The whole world is doomed) We can’t perform miracles on our own…? (There’s no freedom here…) As God’s people we must set the tone.
