I wanna take hold, make me who I want to be
Bought and sold, break me down to my elements
Shaking out my irrelevance. Rise in me rise in me
Your hope places my everything. Itʼs so full, spilling on my enemies
Control leaves my abilities. Rise in me rise in me
How did I get to the end of my road?
I wanna find my way back home
Have you ever looked despair square in the eye
Turned to walk away with no reason why
Have you ever lost your job then had to tell your wife
Fight to pay the rent and go on with your life
Tried to go to sleep but the stress is severe
Put on a fake smile when your no where near
Iʼve walked that road and donʼt know where to go
Although my situation is more than straight and narrow
The words are the same, but the outcome is new
When you find your motivation was the hardest into
But that moment of peace at the brink of demise
His blood covers hope and his people arise
Have you ever looked down from the top of a cross
Then saved the saboteurs and your children lost
Have you ever stood silent while they cursed your name
Then hung among thieves, shouldering the blame
Has the crown of thorns ever touched your brow?
While your family denies you, and breaks their vow
When the stinging of whips scars your back
Would you continue on or go to attack
My issues are small in light of His pain
And His hope is everlasting, grace is the same
With every drop shed, His blood is enough
To keep my burden light in his promise of love
Benjiman, Paul Wright
Behind the Song:"After basically finishing the album, Derek Hoiem and I were at my house talking about
all the songs and the length of the record. We both agreed one more song was needed,
and we wanted it to be different than the rest. The Gospel Music Association convention
was coming up and Derek had been in talks with Paul Wright about performing at our
showcase (which he did!) In the midst of all, I heard some songs Paul produced. I knew
Paul since about 2001 and I had deep respect for his talent in songwriting, performing
and producing. I pitched the idea to Derek about using Paul to produce the song and he
agreed! When we met for the first time to lay down a demo for the track, Paul
challenged me to tighten up the hook and the verses. I re-wrote the entire song that
night! He brought up the point that I should share a little bit of what was going on in my
life at that time. Listen to the first verse carefully and it spells it out pretty clear. Then
listen to the second verse even closer to put it all in perspective. The track was finished
out and mixed by Jeff Frankenstein from the Newsboys. It is a very special track to me
since it is not only so personal, it also allowed me to work with people for whom I have a
TON of respect and admiration." - Benjiman
