So maybe what I thought were good intentions, were nothing of the kind at all, I was better off before
And doubting that I put aside convention, and bring you flowers like the last time, will it count for something more
When it feels like...
Walls, are between us
Walls, are keeping us apart
I'll find my way, and I'm gonna stay, in a place where I can see you over these walls
Assuming I'm not one who likes to gamble, when the game is played for keeps, umm, and your heart is on the table
I promise that I'll never give up easy, but the past speaks so much softer than the present ever could
So looking back I guess I see,
Who you really are and what you mean to me
True love, is heard to find,
I'll say sorry, give me time
I'll say sorry, give me time

Behind the Song:"We debuted this song during our soundcheck at Kingdom Bound 2005 at Six Flags Darien Lake. I remember going up to Roman our soundman after our set to thank him and he said, "Hey, you're welcome. I like your sound. When you started playing I was pretty impressed and then you started singing and I was like wow, these guys have talent!". I haven't mentioned this yet, but as a songwriter I'm very fortunate to have Dave and Matt's vocals to work with when I'm writing. I'm a baritone, Matt's a bass, and Dave is a tenor, so it's very easy for us to get three part harmonies. In fact, until Dave joined the group, he hadn't really sang very much, let alone play drums and sing at the same time, but it's something we've worked on and got incredibly good at. A while back, we did a show at Dave's old university and a bunch of his friends came out. Over and over, after the show, all of his old friends kept saying, "Wow, I didn't know you could sing!"
Walls is a song that applies to relationships of all kinds. In my experience, I've found that it's so easy to let things get in the way. Whether its hurt feelings or disagreements that don't get resolved, it never takes long for these kinds of things to grow into major obstacles between you and the other person. Obviously, resolving these kinds of problems can be difficult and may take time, but I was trying to drive home the point that if you approach these problems with the desire to fix things, you're probably going to have a much better chance at patching things up for the short term, and fixing them for the long term." - Nathan Piché (
