I feel ashamed
With abandon in my heart and on my face
I suffered the blame
I would show to you this way, but I’m too late
When the sorrow, it breaks them
I will replace them for you
Dead flowers for the torn apart
Laid at the grave to heal a broken heart
Let it rain until it floods
Let the sun breathe life once more
Reborn
Wish you the same
To walk beside and carry on this flame
To see you again
With a radiance of pure and holy name
Dead flowers for the torn apart
Behind the Song:The most rewarding part of reimagining the songs
for this collection was hearing how they held up
as songs in general; not metal songs, not ballads
played by a metal band, but just songs. Pulling
them out of the context of a Demon Hunter record
and performing them without the any of those
prerequisites allowed me to hear them with a fresh
perspective. I found myself getting excited about
them all over again.
“Dead Flowers” is the perfect example of a Demon
Hunter song that has the potential to live outside of
the constraints of a metal or hard rock cage.
Hearing these songs transform almost felt like
watching them reach their fullest potential. I’ve never
been so proud to look back on our catalog of
music, and I’ve never felt so blessed to have this
group of individuals help me nurture these songs
into their destined renditions.
