For our 7th annual Highlighting feature, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December, and we're using this format again for 2013. Also, each list contains 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in total for 2013. So, without further ado, we give you Highlighting First-Half 2013!

#6. The Almost
Fear Inside Our Bones
Release Date: April 9, 2013
 |
While being apart from Underoath has been good for Aaron Gillespie to experiment with his creative energy (most notably with his solo worship project Anthem Song), we're happy he's back in action with his original side project for 2013. If "Ghost" is any indication of what's to come, Fear Inside Our Bones will be a mysterious album with plenty to unpack.

No longer a mere side project for Aaron Gillespie, The Almost have come into their own as one of the better rock acts in the industry. This release should be worth the wait.

The Almost is my favorite Aaron Gillespie project and any new material by this group is exciting. While Monster, Monster wasn't quite as good as Southern Weather, I'm hoping 2013's offering steps up beyond either of their previous efforts. I'm so glad this one comes out early this year.

In my opinion, Monster Monster was definitely a step in the right direction for the creative Aaron Gillespie and his fellow bandmates. Their new album should be one of the top indie rock albums of the year.

One of the reasons Aaron Gillespie started The Almost was for a change in style from his day job as drummer for metalcore giant Underoath. When he parted ways with the band in 2010, he embarked on a journey that has seen him start a clothing line, release a solo worship album and become more involved in local ministry. Yet, his hectic schedule hasn't stopped him from creating a third album with this rock-based outfit. Expect nothing but classic Almost on this year's release.
