SATELLITES AND SIRENS "Blood, Sweat, and Rock ‘n Roll Tour" BLOG 8:
"On the road again..." The Blood, Sweat, and Rock ‘n Roll tour continues to roll on. After a crazy previous week that saw us go 48 hours without sleep at one point, we’ve managed this week to stay fairly rested and fairly sane. It’s been a lot of fun as usual, as we’re continuing to meet more and more folks at each venue. It’s been a little surreal for us as we’re starting to see people coming out that already know the songs and that are singing them from the crowd. For a new band like us, that’s pretty rad, especially when it happens at shows that are far, far away from home. God has been good.
It’s been interesting this year to be out traveling while the seasons have changed from Winter into Spring. Seeing everything go from being barren, to being green and full of bloom is always refreshing to see. It’s been a while since I really took much notice of that change, but it’s really hard to ignore as you’re driving down the interstate day after day. Right now I’m looking out at the rolling hills of East Tennessee, and everything is a perfect green under a cloudless sky. Perfect. In a weird way, I never feel like the new year is here until everything is green again. I don’t really think that I could ever live anywhere that doesn’t get green for at least part of the year. I’m not sure where all I’m ruling out as far as a potential stomping ground goes, but I know I need to see green grass and green leaves at some point in the year.
Right now we are on a detour from the Blood, Sweat, and Rock ‘n roll tour, and tonight we started a three-day youth event in Dalton, Georgia playing original material as well as leading worship. All four of us got our start in music by playing worship at church, so this is something we’ve all been looking forward to. Of course, the first night proved to be a good time, and a huge blessing to us. We all have a heart for teenagers and young adults, so this event is perfect for us. The speaker for the event is one of the most outgoing, fun guys you’ll meet. Tonight, while on stage, he made this crazy-awesome mural with chalk. I had to take a picture of this work of art, because not only is it beautiful, but he did it in such a short time. It was pretty unbelievable.
I was reminded of a scripture tonight as we were worshiping.
Psalm 33:1-4. 1 Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
We will be back to the Blood Sweat and Rock ‘n Roll tour shortly. We’ll be wrapping up the tour in the next week. We’ll be sad to be done, but we’re excited about what God has in store for us in the future. We have some great opportunities coming our way. We hope to see all your beautiful faces soon. Have a great week!!!
