“Hell Hole” marks a new chapter for Pipe Bomb with the release of its debut full-length album, mixed and mastered by John Naclario of Nada Recording (My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail). After the release of the Stomp EP (The Charon Collective, 2024), Pipe Bomb is back with 10 chaos-filled songs that pick up where the previous EP left off, with plenty of room for experimentation.
Pipe Bomb embraces more sonic exploration on “Hell Hole,” branching into faster, more aggressive subgenres to round out its sound. Blistering fast tracks like “Tabloid” and “Bliss” veer into false grind territory, while others, like “Straight Edge Hate,” take on a more straightforward modern hardcore influence. Still, Pipe Bomb blends these subgenres with its chaotic metalcore/mathcore sound in a way that feels natural.
“I didn’t overthink it,” vocalist Mitchell Layton says. “If I liked it, I recorded it. I wanted every song to sound like me, not like I was trying to copy my favorite bands. So if I got an idea and it felt sincere, it’s on the track, regardless of whether it felt ‘too hardcore’ or ‘too metal’ compared to what I’ve done before.”
Lyrically, “Hell Hole” digs into a lot of different topics, from depression and mental health, to the Straight Edge lifestyle, to modern politics and its influence on the Christian gospel message.
“Life was pretty turbulent for me mentally when I was writing this album, both in terms of my take on existence and my outlook on the people around me,” says Layton. “Looking back, the emotions behind most of these songs were overwhelmingly negative. I know there can be pain and anger in truth, but I was getting a bit lopsided. I felt like there wasn’t really much I could do to solve any of the problems I saw around me, so these songs were a way of dissecting a world that’s upside down.”
Pipe Bomb first entered the scene in 2023 with its debut single, “False God” — but since then, Pipe Bomb has established itself as a present force in metalcore music and has gone beyond its solo project roots to build a live band. You can expect to see Pipe Bomb at AudioFeed Music Festival in Illinois and Undead Revival Festival in Ohio later this year to support the release of its new album.
“Hell Hole” is available to stream everywhere on March 18th, 2026, and vinyl records are available for pre-order via Resuscitation Records.
