Alex Faith
ATLast

Genre(s): Hip Hop
Album length: 15 tracks: 62 minutes, 38 seconds
Street Date: November 19, 2013

Even though Alex Faith will be new to many ears this winter, he has been in the rap game for a lengthy period of time. The Collision Records recording artist and Atlanta native has been part of many collaboration releases over the last two years, and he delivers a sound that will appeal to most rap heads. This full-length release, aptly named ATLast, not only speaks of something finally worth waiting for and contains many guest sports, but also purposely points to the conclusion of the fact that Jesus is indeed best!

The album opens with "ATFirst" with Alex spitting rhymes faster than most others in the hip hop game today while blending a nice production of rap and R&B with strong lyrics like "Heard me say it once, but it begs to repeat. Only got a crown just to put it at His feet." As mentioned, the point of this album is to speak volumes of what truly matters in this life, and that message can't be missed throughout. Some of today's best hip hoppers can be heard collabing on ATLast, such as Trip Lee on "Light Up," a track about Christ-like living, and Tedashii and Corey Paul on "Pull Up," a quintessential head-nodding party track. You'll also catch Andy Mieno on "Runaway" and Dre Murray and JGivens on "Refuge." The credits on this album are definitely studded with an all-star cast.

Even though the focus is on point for the entire listen, not all is picture perfect, however. "Letting Me Go" does not flow musically at all, and songs such as "Bloodlines" and "Hold Me Down" are basically average at best; there's simply nothing great or horrible about them, making them easily skippable. Overall, though, there are more positives than negatives to ATLast, so most will enjoy spinning this. The beats are mostly hot and the lyrical content begs us to run to our Savior when our world is crashing down. Lastly, if you're able to cop the bonus version, you'll score three more solid tunes to enjoy all winter long.
