Will Hunt is the brainchild of Apt°core, a band whose soul purpose is to create beats and rhythms that usher you into the presence of God. Like their debut, lyrics are very scarce on the sophomore effort, Apt°core 2, on Rocketown Records. The whole experience seems like a long remix album, with the occasional voices that show up on the tracks thrown in as just a reminder of the original songs. I haven't heard anything like this before; but, in my opinion, any disc without too many lyrics- No matter how diverse the music is- can't keep my interest for too long.

But don't get me wrong, I love the various techno, urban, and hip-hop beats; but after a little while, you crave deeper substance. Not just atmospheric voices spouting phrases. Yes, all of the lyrics point straight to God, but the style in which Apt°core relays the message becomes a little redundant.

The one song that relies heavily on vocals, "Loved," is, by far, the best track on Apt°core 2. Female vocals reminiscent of Plumb and Sixpence None the Richer back the beautiful song about God's love for us. Other songs feature her incredible vocals, but they are in very small doses. I have to wonder why Apt°core didn't make more use out of the amazing gift they had in their hands.

For a party, this is great music. But if you're looking for music to listen to while you're sitting around the house, you're going to want to look elsewhere. Apt°core has the art form nailed, but it just isn't enough to keep me interested. If electronic music is the sort of thing you're into, though, this is just the ticket.
