The modern worship movement of the past decade has put Christian music at an interesting crossroads. Christian music enthusiasts are often torn between worshipful lyrics with generic, mediocre music; or unique, innovative music with mediocre lyrics. It's becoming harder and harder to find worship artists that truly stand out from among the pack.
Robbie Seay Band's Sparrow Records debut Better Days offers nothing new to the modern worship genre. In fact, it's hard to call Better Days a "worship CD," as many of the songs are more reflective on our faith, rather than a direct expression of love to Our Father. That's not to say there are no worship songs on Better Days. "Jesus, Garden of My Rest" and "Eternal God" are great worship songs, and the highlights of the album. Other album highlights include the inspirational "Faith of Our Fathers," and "We are Free."
Better Days fits better within the CCM genre than the Modern Worship genre. Musically, Robbie Seay Band is best compared to Darrell Evans and a mellower Chris Tomlin, with vocal similarities to Bebo Norman. Fans of these artists will find Robbie Seay Band to be an enjoyable addition to their CD collections.
Overall, Robbie Seay provides listeners with a relaxing and refreshing listening experience that is genuinely uplifting.
