Joy Electric
Hello, Mannequin

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 14 tracks: 56 minutes, 49 seconds
Street Date: June 8, 2004

Continuing with the Legacy series, Hello, Mannequin (volume 3) is the newest installment from Tooth & Nail artist Joy Electric. For this album, Ronnie Martin took a slightly different direction than his normal upbeat styling. The concept of Hello, Mannequin reflects a darker style, thus making it less poppy as some of his previous releases. Some songs, however, sound reminiscent of those from his early works on We Are The Music Makers.

The album opens up with the title track "Hello, Mannequin," which is done with spoken word rather than singing. It makes for a great introduction to the album. The album then moves into "Disloyalist Party", one of the album's highlights. This song would make for a great single, as it has already seen some potential as a download on Pure Volume (www.purevolume.com). "Who Are Friends?" is another standout track that is worthy of a listen. Many other tracks follow the friendship theme, which certainly doesn't appear to be accidental.

As usual, Ronnie's lyrics are deep and poetic, while his music remains structured. He has given us what could absolutely be one of the best releases from Joy Electric to date. Not only will fans of this techno-wonder be amazed at the music, but at the artwork as well. It even features a somewhat haunting looking at the mannequin that resembles Mr. Martin. Fans will also be pleased that the term "full-length" lives to its name. This musical merry-go-round lasts a full 56 minutes and 40 seconds, making way for a long and fun-filled ride.
