73 minutes of sound coming from one of the pioneers of Christian rap. The Cross Movement is one of the most Christ-centered rap groups to ever grace our ears and this release is no different. Throughout House Of Representatives, you will hear about how awesome God's creation is and how amazing He is to have spoken it into existence. The group tells listeners to think on Heavenly things and reminds us that we shouldn't be messing around when it comes to God.
A few top tracks lyrically are "House of Representatives," "Playa Hater #1," and "Cypha the Next Day." You'll find great lyrics are all over the album, like "Mics, we blaze 'em. The lost, God will save 'em. Hands, ya'll raise 'em. Christ all praise Him" to "Rise, shine for the Light has come, I count all things as dung, compared to the knowledge of God the Son." And as always, the CM does not fail us in production. The beats are unique and thoroughly enjoyable.
"Off the Hook," with the Ambassador, is perhaps the best track on the album. It's a chilling song that depicts a court room scene, painting a beautiful picture of what Christ has done for us. Another unique track would be "The Rescue," where TRU-Life talks about a life and death experience. House Of Representatives showcases The Tonic's very best work to date. He spits his best lyrics, "The foul rip Christ and they just don't stop, but be not deceived 'cuz God is not mocked," and lets people know that you don't fool with the Most High. You will also hear Cruz Cordero and Enoch on the album, along with the production of Earthquake, who are all no longer with the group.
House Of Representatives has catchy hooks throughout to get you singing along while bobbing your head. There will be a few scattered tracks that come off a little weaker than what most have come to expect from the CM, but keep in mind this record did release back in 1999. Of course, with most rap album comes skits and interludes, and while the message is great among those on this album, there are too many included here. Compared to other albums that the group has released, this would be considered a decent one, but when stacked up against the rest of the rap world, this is a definite hit. If you're a rap music fan and haven't checked out House Of Representatives from The Cross Movement yet, you're missing out.
