What to do when you have 2 albums, several hit songs, and it's about time for a new album? Why, put out a greatest hits album of course! Although it's a ridiculous idea with only 2 CDs out, pop/rockers All Star United have done just that. Only consulation is 2 brand new songs and 1 remix. But they're not just any new songs, they're 2 awesome new songs.
Being a collection of their "greatest hits," it's actually an odd collection. With few actually being "hits," and there only being 2 albums to work with, the fan is presented with basically half of each album on one disc. While the song selections from both CDs seem to leave out some of the best tracks, the end product is still a good collection of ASU tunes.
The CD appropriately begins with "Smash Hit," followed by 4 other songs from their self-titled debut. Then 7 songs from their second release, International Anthems for the Human Race follow that and lead into two new relationship-themed songs, "Hang On" and "Baby Come Back," before ending with a stripped down remix of "Saviour of My Universe."
Although this collection would have been best held off after 3 or 4 albums released, Smash Hits is a must-have for fans and a good way to introduce should-be fans to their music.
