Everyday Sunday
Stand Up DVD

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 3 music videos, 4 song clips & extra features
Street Date: June 24, 2003

Last year saw the debut of a series of DVDs for your favorite Christian artists. While these DVD's were only seven dollars or cheaper, the content was pretty thin and you were able to watch most of them in their entirety within 10 to 20 minutes. The features ranged anywhere from music videos, sometimes with commentary, to interviews and behind the scenes featurettes. In 2003, a new wave of these releases hit shelves to whet the appetites of more Christian music lovers.

Newcomers Everyday Sunday from Ohio release their debut DVD entitled Stand Up, serving as an accompaniment to their 2002 debut album of the same name. The DVD's contents offer a variety of features including music videos for hits "Lose It Again" and "Wait," as well as a promotional photo gallery and a few sound clips from the record. The charm of the Stand Up DVD release comes in the form of the exclusive "Making of Lose It Again" music video featurette and their amusing independent music video for "Just A Story." Diehard ES fans won't want to miss either of these features.

The presentation of this project is really nice. Almost every time you start the DVD up, the intro is different, using portions of the bands songs and random video clips. The menus are pretty cool and are a cinch to navigate. The two music videos are pretty cool, and a must for a release like this, however, the video for "Wait" is a major disappointment. While the color and overall feel for the video looks pretty cool, the camera jerks and shakes so violently during the video that it just cheapens the overall delivery and gives off a serious amateurish feel to the cinematography. The independent video for "Just A Story" is much more fun to watch despite the obvious low budget the guys had to work with. Another complaint is with the sound clips on the project. First of all, the clips seem to be a standard thing per DVD release but always seem unnecessary. But here it's even more unnecessary as only four clips are included and two of them are of the two full-length music videos. Can someone explain that to me? It's a wonder why clips for their first hit "Mess With Your Mind" or "Live For You Tonight" were both completely disregarded.

Minor fusses aside, the lengthy behind the scenes footage for the "Lose It Again" video was neat to watch because you got to see the steps it took for making the film and a lot of footage of the video filming in progress. What I missed from this DVD were interviews and a deeper look into the lives of the guys of Everyday Sunday. If you're looking for this DVD to do just that, you're going to have to look elsewhere... All in all, it's a cool release, but it doesn't improve upon the faults of last years "Collector's Series" editions. However, it's still got just enough cool stuff to keep the Sunday fans happy for a little while.
