Can two people 'wow' you as much as they did the first time they did something amazing? Apparently. Listen to Transparent, the sophormore release from the brother/sister duo, LaRue. With a more mature sound and two years older, Natalie (17) and Phillip (19) present a well-crafted album that let's you in for a more intimate look at the lives of the two siblings. Song topics range from trying to get the attention of their generation ("Wake Up"), to relationships ("Jaded"), and family ("One White Tulip").
The musical styles on Transparent range from the pop/rock sounds of "Theory of Flight," "I Can't Sing," and others, to the soft melodic ballads of "Fallen for You" and "Brianna's Song," with the last two being two of the best tracks on the disc. Natalie's voice is at its best [in these songs], delivering passionate vocals that is guaranteed to leave you moved. "Brianna's Song" is about the hope and joy that Natalie and Phillip's 14 year old sister with cerebral palsy has brought them. "Fallen For You" is a passionate ballad serving as a love song to our Savior. Natalie's beautiful, mature vocals float over a slow, unique electronic beat.
The duo leave nothing to hide with this release, and promise through a solid release that they still have much to offer and much to say. Check out Transparent and get to know these kids.
