Everyday Sunday
Wake Up! Wake Up!

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 10 tracks: 34 minutes, 6 seconds
Street Date: May 22, 2007

The beginning of Everyday Sunday's new album Wake Up! Wake Up! is a perfect metaphor for their career thus far. Starting off slowly, but with energy and potential, the opening track, "Let's Go Back," builds and builds until it breaks. With their debut release on Inpop Records and their third release nationwide looming, Everyday Sunday found themselves at this breaking point with either a complete success or a complete flop in their hands. After two enjoyable yet little-known albums and many line up changes left the band questioning their future, their next album became the most important one of their career. The fact that Everyday Sunday was able to deliver such a strong album under such circumstances proves that they are here to stay. In short, Wake Up! Wake Up! is a fine album that showcases the high energy rock that Everyday Sunday has been delivering for years, and also reveals the musical growth that should help them make a name for themselves.

Probably the strongest part of this album is the fact that there is not a track that stands out as weak and not one that stands out as better than the rest. This is due in part because every song on Wake Up! Wake Up! is energetic, catchy, and in your face - yet with a meaning, which makes them ALL good. More so than on their past albums, Everyday Sunday seems to have made a record where each song could stand on their own, yet fit together so well that this standout tracks are not necessary. Noticeable changes include a more polished sound; however this does not compromise vocalist Trey Pearson's signature raw vocals and rather compliments them with more background vocals and additional guitar parts.

Apart from its intro, the first track, "Let's Go Back," is still one to mention. With a chorus in which Pearson cries, "So tell me, what you are and I'll tell you you're so much more than anything you thought that you could be," this song is sure to speak to many people who need to hear about God's plans for their lives and how they can follow them. Even from the start, Everyday Sunday boldly proclaims their faith, which is a breath of fresh air in a scene in which increased popularity yields more cryptic lyrics. Followed by the title track, "Wake Up! Wake Up!," in which Christians are once again urged to act on their faith and "wake up" and walk with God, this album starts off strong and continues so until its end. Possibly the best track is the last track, which is simply a love ballad to God, or a song "From Me to You," "There You stand with your arms wide open, you're calling me to You. I know that Heaven's just one step away, as I reach for you You hold me and say, I love you." The words of this song are beautiful and truly representative of the joy found in Christ, making it a perfect way to end this particular chapter in the career of a band that has always been about God and not themselves.

Everyday Sunday hasn't been the most popular band, yet what ill can you speak about a group of guys that put so much into what they do? With Wake Up! Wake Up!, the band has matured musically and lyrically in such a way that undoubtedly they are at the top of their career so far with the release of this album.
