Peter was a seasoned fisherman. He had fished all night and had caught nothing. Yet this preacher, who obviously knew little about fishing, insisted that he try again. It didn't make sense to Peter, and he had his doubts, but when he obeyed Jesus, he witnessed a miracle. The Scripture says "they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break."
Did you ever feel like all your efforts in a situation were accomplishing nothing? Maybe you had tried all the ways the "experts" recommended. All the suggestions your friends made. Every course of action that made sense to you. Maybe you've decided that there is no solution to the problem, and you've resigned yourself to living with it. Perhaps the Savior is saying to you today, "You've tried it your way-- now try it Mine." God's instructions to us don't always make sense. We're told to give, if we want to receive. To forgive, even when it seems unthinkable. To love, even when we're not loved in return. Give your struggles to the Lord, and tell Him you're willing to do things His way this time. Then prepare to see mountains move!
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for wanting to do things "my way." Help me to seek
You and Your will in everything that concerns me. Make me willing to obey
You, and teach Me Your ways, that I may no longer follow my own ways, or
those of others. Thank You for all the blessings I'll receive as a result!
