The Bible says, "The word of God is alive and powerful." (Hebrews 4:12 NLT) It has the power to transform virtually every aspect of our lives. Let me share with you some truths that will help you gain new insights into the power of God's Word. SALVATION. "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes." (Romans 1:16 NIV) God's Word has the power to save our souls when we put our faith in it, and in what Jesus did for us on the cross. "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." (1 Peter 1:23 NIV) It's by the Word that we experience the new birth and receive eternal life in Christ. FAITH. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17 NKJV) The Word has the power to increase our faith. Every time we read it, study it, hear it, or speak it, we give God an avenue through which He can increase our faith. SPIRITUAL WARFARE. "God's word is an indispensable weapon." (Ephesians 6:17 MSG) Jesus used the Word to battle Satan when he came to tempt the Savior in the desert (Matthew 4:1-11), and we can do the same thing.
PRAYER. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." (John 15:7 NKJV) A Word-filled believer is a powerful believer. When we take the time to plant God's Word deep in our hearts, it will renew our minds, and enable us to pray the prayers of God's own heart--which always get ready answers. WISDOM. "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom." (Colossians 3:16 NKJV) Filling our hearts up with the truth of God's Word will enable us to see things from God's perspective, instead of the world's, and we will be more likely to make wise decisions that we won't regret later on. GUIDANCE. "Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." (Psalm 119:105 NLT) If we try to live our lives without the illuminating power of the Word, we will stumble in darkness, and will wind up making detours that will rob us of God's best. PREPARATION. "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God's way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do." (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT) If we want the Lord to bless us and use us for His glory in exciting ways, we must partner with Him for our preparation. As we humble ourselves before Him and allow the correcting and perfecting power of the Word to work in us, we will position ourselves to be mightily used of God.
HOPE. "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." (Romans 15:4 NIV) No matter how daunting our circumstances might be, the Lord wants us to remain hopeful. He's given us His Word to sustain and uplift us when we need it most. PEACE. "Great peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or make them stumble." (Psalm 119:165 AMP) We can remain at peace and unruffled when trials and offenses come our way when we take God's Word to heart, and follow its liberating truths. JOY. "I rejoice in Your Word like one who finds a great treasure." (Psalm 119:162 NLT) Think of God's Word as containing buried treasure. Dig into it and experience for yourself the joy it brings to those who discover its immeasurable value. HEALTH. "Give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their whole body." (Proverbs 4:20-22 NASB) God's Word has the power to transform our physical and mental health when we give it our undivided attention and determine to live by its truths. PROSPERITY AND SUCCESS. "Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." (Joshua 1:8 NLT) As we give God's Word first place in our lives and meditate on it continually, the Lord will bless our efforts and crown them with success!
Prayer: Lord, I praise You for Your Word which has the ability to transform every area of my life. Help me to devote myself to Your Word in ways that will enable me to experience its "superhuman power." (1 Thessalonians 2:13 AMP) Thank You that as I let Your Word abide and take root in me, You will do "exceedingly abundantly" above all I dare ask or imagine! (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)
