The Lord answered Moses, "Is the Lord's arm too short? You will now see whether or not what I say will come true for you."
- Numbers 11:21-23 NIVWhen I read this passage, I can't help thinking to myself, "Here's Moses--the man who witnessed countless miracles performed by God, including the cycle of plagues against Pharaoh and his people, and the spectacular parting of the Red Sea--doubting that this same God can provide the Israelites with an ample supply of meat in the wilderness." And then I feel convicted and think, "But how many times have I seen God do wonderful things in my own life--many times when the odds were stacked against me--and then doubted His ability or willingness to come through for me yet again?"
How many miracles does God have to perform for us before we'll trust Him the way He desires and deserves us to? Fifty? A hundred? I suspect, human nature being what it is, there will always be times when we doubt God, no matter how many miracles He's performed for us in the past. When the Lord said to Moses, "Is the Lord's arm too short?" He was really saying, "Am I powerless to help?" Could He be saying that to you today? Rest assured that the same God Who magnificently provided meat for His people out in the wilderness will provide for your needs, too!
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for my doubts and fears, especially since You have
been so faithful in the past. I pray that, from now on, when I am tempted
to doubt, You will increase my faith and grant me a reassurance that will
sustain me, even in the most troubling times. Thank You that Your arm is
never too short to meet even my greatest needs!
