Caught In The Act Of Loving Him cover
09. Tied Down
Album: Caught In The Act Of Loving Him
Artist: Servant

What's wrong with me? - I can't believe this lethargy,
The days go by, it makes me wonder why the time just seems to fly,
And here comes all those alibis, all those excuses, and all those lies,
I tell myself I need security, got to have responsibility,
I don't need these chains wrapped around me.

Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down, (I'm breaking away)
Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down, (I'm breaking away)
Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down.

I started small; I didn't need that much at all, but I took the bait,
My debt seemed to escalate,
I bought a lot, but the more I got the more my debts got deeper,
My interest rates got steeper and steeper,
I need simplicity; this modern life is killing me,
Got to get away before it's too late.

Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down, (I'm breaking away)
Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down, (I'm breaking away)
Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down.

I could go evangelize, but my life is paralyzed,
I'm the willing victim of this "get rich" dictum,
All the things I've got leave me tied in knots,
All the obligations, all the frustrations,
My life does not consist of all that I possess,
If what I own possesses me...

Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down, (I'm breaking away)
Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down, (I'm breaking away)
Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down, (I'm breaking away)
Got to breakaway today,
Not gonna stay tied down.
