Rise
by Building 429

It’s written in your eyes
I can see the face you hide
It’s getting harder every night
To want to be alive
Thinking thoughts inside your mind
Of leaving us all behind
Leaving us all behind

But you’re not quite home yet
You’re not quite through
It’s not your time
He’s got a plan for you
There’s still a plan for you
It’s everywhere you hide
‘Cause the shadows follow you
You think you can’t escape
But you’re running anyway
And you’re thoughts all break my heart
There’s a chapter left to write
There’s a chapter left to write

Won’t you run, fly open up your lungs tonight, breathe freedom for the first time in your life
Won’t you run, fly, open up your lungs tonight, breathe freedom for the first time in your life

written by Mike Anderson, Scotty Beshears, Jesse Garcia, Jason Roy

Behind the Song:
"We received an e-mail around January 2005 from a young man that had dealt with suicide. His letter told us about how he had decided to kill himself – he had written the note and everything was planned, except that his mother had dropped our CD on his dresser that day. At first he thought, “Great, another Christian CD.” But then he decided to listen. For some reason our CD changed his mind and caused him to rethink the plan that he had for his life. This letter helped us recognize the power that we had to speak into people’s lives, which was something we just didn’t understand. Secondly, it reminded us that even the Church is full of people who are considering whether life is worthwhile or not. “Home” was written to remind our audience and ourselves that, while we aren’t the stars in this epic masterpiece, we are all players that He wants so badly to be involved in His redemption plan. Amazing, isn’t it? That He doesn’t need us at all, but He wants us to know Him so much that He’d send His son to die for us. That’s something to live for." - Jason Roy (Building 429)
