I wake up and let the world in
To tear me right in two
And drag my spirits down
There's always something subtle
That leads me back to you
To take the time to see the one I love
Chorus:
Every time I see you
Every thing I once knew
Changes from the old into the new
Every word you've spoken
Sings just like the ocean
Carries me back home to you my God
Some days I don't adore you
I search for something else
It always feels so empty
A restless heart I have
But I want to stop for you
To take the time to see the one I love
What am I gonna do, I hide myself from you
It leaves me all alone
You pull my heart to see
You push my soul to breathe
You free me like the wind across the sea

Behind the Song:“’Home to You’ was an interesting write for us. It was the first song that Matt started writing when we moved to Nashville. It had a new feeling and life to it, and we knew it would be special. The original lyric idea was negative and critical. I wanted to move the song in a more vertical direction. In trying to become more positive, I started thinking about how we love a God who is always at work. Even during the course of rewriting the song, so much changed in our lives and hearts that the song just came alive.” - Jacob McGinnis (
The Turning)
