Roll out the red carpet, everybody! Here comes one of the best new groups of the late 90's. Lloyd is jumping into the spotlight via Organic Records. Lloyd is a new modern rock/pop group who blend great vocals with acoustic and electric guitars to deliver one of the best, if not the best, discs of '98 (my apologies to Big Tent, Common Children, and Skillet). Although they'd like us all to forget, there's no hiding the fact that two original members of the rock/funk/pop group Imagine This have teamed up with a new guitarist (who also was with I.T. for a time) and bassist to form Lloyd. The name change is necessary as Lloyd strays quite a distance from the Imagine This.

Their debut masterpiece kicks off with "Don't Wanna Know," a song with a message reminiscent of "It's the End of the World As We Know It," but we don't need to know when the end is because we trust God with the future. One highlight that's destined to be a radio hit is "Forever Song," a tune inspired by an article lead singer Daryl Younglblood read in the newspaper about a mother who lost her daughters in a terrible car accident. The song thoughtfuly touches on the subject of death and the peace we have, as Christians, in knowing where we'll be when we die. "Mary Tyler Moore," another pop tune, comparable to Matchbox 20, tells the story of how God spoke to Youngblood one night through an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. "Mr. Warner" is a hard-rocking answer to Brian Warner (AKA Marilyn Manson) and his anti-Christian practices. They boldly proclaim, "I don't really care if this is offending you / I'll scream it from mountains if I have to / This is the one fixation I'll never lose / This is the choice I can't refuse." To wrap up, I highly recommend Thoughts From a Driveway. Go pick this one up and bring a friend too!
